Le fasce: cosa sono e che ruolo hanno
La fascia è una struttura di tessuto connettivo che ricopre i muscoli, gruppi di muscoli, vasi sanguigni e nervi, unendo alcune strutture, mentre permette ad altre di scivolare delicatamente una sull’altra. È una banda o un foglio di tessuto connettivo, principalmente collagene, sotto la pelle che si attacca, stabilizza, racchiude e separa i muscoli e altri organi interni. Le fasce funzionano come un tutt’uno e giocano un ruolo importane sia nel funzionamento del corpo, che nel mantenimento della sua integrità. Il loro ruolo è quello di sospensione e protezione, di concentrazione, di separazione, di assorbimento degli choc oltre che di ammortizzazione delle pressioni. Le fasce sono garanti della coesione interna, tramite i suoi attacchi strutturali (legamenti e fasce propriamente dette) mantiene ciascun organo al proprio posto.
Nel momento della gravidanza, l’utero è la sede di una distensione importante, con l’allungamento dei suoi legamenti, senza che questo si traduca in dolore. Non solamente l’utero si distende, ma risalendo nella cavità addominale, attua, in secondo luogo, una distensione dei fascia della parete addominale, senza provocare dolore, e mentre in altre circostanze in cui è sottoposto a tensione e stress, reagisce creando spessore, se non addirittura calcificazione, niente di tutto ciò accade in questo caso. Dopo il parto esso ritorna alla normalità, ossia, si ritrae per ritrovare la sua tonicità e la sua precedente elasticità. Questo è un fenomeno programmato e si può pensare che il fascia abbia in “memoria” questo meccanismo. In caso dell’obesità, in certi soggetti l’aumento di peso è enorme, l’accumulo del tessuto grasso avviene a tutti i livelli implicando un aumento di volume che può essere considerevole, con una automatica distensione dei fascia per contenere questo surplus. Al momento del dimagrimento, soprattutto se è progressivo, nella gran parte dei casi, le fasce riprendono la loro tonicità e la normale elasticità. Il rene, contenuto in un sacco sospeso da legamenti e arteria renale, è soggetto a dei prolassi o a diventare mobile in seguito a una rilassatezza del sistema sospensivo, essendo la stessa arteria renale ritirata. Se per una manipolazione osteopatica, a condizione che non sia tardiva, riusciamo a far reintegrare il rene nella sua posizione naturale, constatiamo che al termine di un certo periodo questo si è stabilito al suo posto, e che le strutture di sostegno hanno ritrovato la loro tonicità. La fascia ha una considerevole malleabilità che lo fa adattare permanentemente alle tensioni che subisce. Ma è anche capace di ritrovare il suo stato precedente poiché “programmato” per facilitare la fisiologia del corpo, a condizione che gli sia apportato un aiuto esteriore in un lasso di tempo ragionevole.
Oltre il ruolo di mantenimento, le fasce costituiscono un meccanismo di protezione che garantiscono l’integrità fisica e fisiologica del corpo umano. Questo meccanismo di protezione si esprime seguendo più veicoli, ciò grazie alla solidità ma anche alla contrattilità e alla elasticità.
a) Mantenimento dell’integrità anatomica. Esse permettono ai diversi organi di conservare una forma costante. Ciò non avviene con rigidità assoluta, ma al contrario grazie a una adattabilità che varia secondo le regioni interessate. Così, i fascia che avvolgono i reni, il fegato, o quelli che mantengono la struttura delle arterie, nonostante abbiano una certa possibilità di elasticità, possiedono un tono molto più importante di quello dell’intestino, dello stomaco, delle vene o delle uretere che sono sottomesse a delle variazione di forma e di pressione dipendenti dal loro grado di riempimento. Esse devono dunque permanentemente aggiustare le loro tensioni per una tolleranza più grande.
b) Protezione contro le variazioni di tensione. Le fasce costituiscono la prima barriera protettrice contro le importanti variazioni di tensione, a livello del corpo, e permette di assorbire gli choc al fine di preservare l’integrità delle strutture che avvolge e sostiene. Sono dunque dei veri ammortizzatori che, grazie alla loro elasticità, possono attenuare le tensioni che agiscono sul corpo, e di prendere in carico e ripartire l’energia trasmessa da uno choc violento al fine di evitare qualsiasi lesione all’organo che protegge.
Questo ruolo di protezione e di tampone ha valore a livello delle meningi, il cui scopo è quello di preservare l’asse cerebro-spinale contro gli choc e le variazioni brutali di pressione che potrebbero essere molto dannose per il tessuto nervoso. A questo livello un elemento supplementare viene a rinforzare, fra l’altro, questo ruolo di ammortizzatore: il liquido cefalo-rachideo.
Se il tessuto connettivo subisce le tensioni persistenti, esso trasforma completamente la sua struttura, in modo particolare ai punti di inserzione, per evolversi verso la calcificazione. E così che al momento di tensioni importanti vediamo alcuni attacchi legamentali o fasciali calcificarsi progressivamente . Questo fenomeno è particolarmente frequente a livello del calcagno (speroni calcaneari), del collo, della spalla o della colonna vertebrale, per citare gli esempi più significativi che si riscontrano quotidianamente.
Inoltre, sotto l’effetto di irritazioni, infiammazioni e di tensioni ripetitive e importanti, il tessuto connettivo usa un sistema di difesa che consiste nel trasformarsi in tessuto osseo. Assistiamo qui a un importante sistema di adattamento, compensazione tanto più notevole quanto più reversibile si presenta.
